Ian Scammell  – my lead up to the UKDFBA UK Championships 2016
I am Ian Scammell a competitive natural bodybuilder and I am currently training for 2016 UKDFBA (United kingdom drug free bodybuilding association) UK championships on October 16th in the Masters category, to which I am the current champion.
Currently I am training 5 days a week at the Fitness Hub,  this consists of 1 hour of resistance training and 20 mins of HIIT training on a spin bike and this year I’ve planned a 16 week diet. I am hoping to retain my title and earn an invite to the WNBF (world natural bodybuilding federation ) World championships in November.

Carl Murphy – My journey to the PCA Welsh bodybuilding show 30th April 2016

Carl Murphy – My journey to the PCA Welsh bodybuilding show 30th April 2016

My 8 month Road

I stated my journey back in October 2015 to compete in the PCA Welsh bodybuilding in Port Talbot on the 30th

I moved to Portishead after living in Chepstow Wales for the last 16yrs and always been in to fitness and wanted to find a suitable gym that could attend to my daily grind .. I went down to see Claire & Andy at The Fitness hub gym in the town and explained what my goal was and would like to join the gym ..The Gym had everything I needed and with the great atmosphere the hub brings and facilities I got cracking ..

I have always keep myself active and previously  going back in to the gym I had been doing Crossfit for the last 12 months but my passion for always wanting to step on stage and seeing how far I could push my body was in the  back of my mind so I went back to the gym to pursue my dream at the Hub ..

I would attend the Hub every morning for Cardio and in the evening to do weight session  on a 6 day basis .. the atmosphere was great and soon fell in to place with staff and local people who loved to train in the Hub, on the plus side there were lads also training hard to compete in bodybuilding show this year due to the friendly environment the gym gives you I started training with them on our Sunday legs day and it wasn’t for the weak believe me ..

8 months on the day arrived 30th April 2016, I had come along way in the  gym with my motivation and determination over this time and was totally ready to compete as a first timer at the age of 39…

I won my class as a First timer at the PCA Welsh bodybuilding show and then went up against all the winners of each category in the men’s classes of that day .

I won the Overall and was now the PCA  Welsh Champion, I couldn’t believe what I had achieved and shows with hard work great mindset & strong work ethic you can achieve anything ..  Im now back on prep to complete in the PCA bodybuilding  British finals on 19th June in Birmingham.. So back to it in the Fitness hub for early mornings and late  evenings try to take my body to the next level, with the support of the The Fitness hub it makes it an excellent experience.

Ian Scammell places at the UKDFBA Open UK Championships

Portishead Bodybuilder places at UKDFBA Open UK Championships
Saturday 27th September 2014 – Leamington Spa, England

Portishead bodybuilder Ian Scammell, a member of the Fitness Hub Portishead, was in action on the 27th of September as he competed in the United Kingdom Drug Free bodybuilding Association championships (UKDFBA). The UKDFBA was founded in 2011 to provide UK bodybuilders with a much needed affiliate to the WNBF, which is recognised as the number one natural/drug free bodybuilding sanctioning body in the World. Since inception, the annual UK Open Championship has gone from strength to strength and this was its fourth year of competition.

Considering the quality of competition, which included a current BNBF (British Natural Bodybuilding Federation) British champion and previous title holders, Ian was placed 3rd in the over 40’s category, a very good result for the Hub star but Ian was slightly disappointed that he didn’t get 2nd place as he showed a great level of conditioned muscle. That said, Ian is determined to come back stronger than ever and knows what he has to do to improve, stating that “during the next year I think I need to work on shoulder width and upper pectorial thickness to be a contender for the title. Another year of hard training and dedication ahead and we will see want happens. In the meantime I would like to thank The Fitness Hub for all their support.”

Rio & Cory both take Gold at the Bristol Open

Rio Williams and Cory Cook who train every Monday night at the Kids Kung Fu and Kickboxing Class were recently crowned Bristol Open 2013 Champions. The competition took place Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October at the City Academy in Bristol. The event attracted fighters from 17 different countries and is rated as the UKs toughest Sports Martial Arts Championships. Both fighters fought out of their skin to take first place in their respective divisions. We would also like to make a special mention to Portishead Fighter Pearce Cruse for an outstanding performance in his biggest competition to date.
